WHAT IS PHI DELTA SIGMA?

In 1957, the Scholastic Achievement Council (SAC) created Phi Delta Sigma, Wilmington High School's first academic achievement honor society. Each year, deserving students from all four grades who meet rigorous academic standards are recognized during a Spring convocation.

WHO QUALIFIES FOR PHI DELTA SIGMA?

Students can qualify each year during their high school experience.  The requirements are reconsidered each year by the Scholastic Achievement Council and in collaboration with WHS teachers and administrators.

2021-22 Criteria:
  • Be considered a "full-time" student
  • Pass all classes and exams
  • Quarter 1, 2, and 3 grades must average to a 3.5 or higher each.
  • Winter exam grades must average to a 3.5 or higher.
  • 2021-22 cumulative GPA must be a 3.5 or higher.

WHat are the benefits of being a phi delta sigma member?

The students who meet the eligibility requirements have outstanding academic achievement, and they deserve recognition for their dedication.  We will celebrate you on your success each year!

College bound seniors who have maintained membership in the society for four consecutive years - and the class's highest ranking scholars - will receive scholarship money to be used towards tuition at the post-secondary school of their choice.
Since its inception, the SAC has raised and awarded over $319,900 to 748 graduates.
